I have  the best little buddies. They have been raised with much love and care. They are my friends not my pets and are treated as such
                  LETS GO MEET THEM
       Merky
Merky was 5 weeks old when he was found by my grandson,Ryan in the grass at his Aunt's house. There was not a tree in 200 feet of the lawn. His mom must have droped him there while moving him to a new nest. The dogs were very interested in him so it is lucky that Ryan came along. Merky was brought to me to raise.
He was a fighter from the beginning and soon turned into a very healthy juvie. He loves to get into everything he can and some things that he can not.He likes to play in the kitchen sink and will stay there for  the longest time. My fish aquarium is another item he likes He will sit on the top and hang down and look at the fish that have gathered around because they thought he was going to feed them.Sometimes a paw will  come down the front of the glass as he tries to bat at them.Merky also likes to box with me.He will stand up on his hind legs and box with his front paws. Merky is to bonded to humans to be released.

Tommy
Tommy and his 2 sisters came to me on 09-12-2000. They had been found after a tree was cut down by the homeowners. They were given to me to raise. From the beginning Tommy was the sweetest squirrel and always hung out with me. His sisters were released and are doing great. He was very small at the time of their release and way to friendly to be released. His sisters come everyday for their handouts and even had babies of their own. Tommy is still as sweet as ever to me but mean as heck to Merky and Peanuts.

Angel
Angel was given to me by a fellow worker. She was found on the ground by her grandchildren. The children tried to feed and care for her themselves but when she was not doing to good, their grandmother took over and gave her to me. Angel is very sweet but very moody. She cops an attitude every once in a while and will not even let me touch her but she is soon back to her sweet self. Her and my hubby play a little game every day and she looks forward to it. She lets him feed her and even pet her while she is in the cage but outside of it she will bite him. She likes to spend time in my outdoor pen and does so every day.

Angel became sick in June of 2005 and after a visit to the vet it was determined by ultrasound exam that she has only one kidney and that it has cysts on it. At this writing in July  she is doing better and I have hope that she will continue to do so.

Peanuts
Peanut is a 3 year old grey squirrel. I got him because his mommy could not keep him anymore and wanted a good home for him.
He is a very sweet squirrel and very pretty. He has however very odd sleeping habits. he will get up at 4 am and run and play and goes to bed very early. None of my other squirrels do this. I hope Peanut will stay with us for many years.
01-2003  -- Peanut is settling in nicely now and  beginning to behave like my other squirrels. He no longer gets up at 4 am.

This is Ding Ding (aka Lucky)
She is about 3 years old old and given to me by a lady that saved her from a cat not once but twice. You can see one of her injuries down the front of her forhead. It will always be like that.
She has some problems and is not quite all there in the head department but she is nice.
She is a free squirrel but choses to sleep in the house at night. She has been doing this for over 2 years. She spends a lot of time on the porch and is just content to lounge around. Of course she has a home for life.
                                     This is Sweet Pea

She is 3 years old and I raised her from a baby. I have tried to release her several times but she will not go. WIll not even leave the screen door even after I left her out there for several hours. I even put her in the tree but she ran right back to the door. I guess she likes it inside. She is a real nice gal to.

SO NOW YOU WANT A SQUIRREL FRIEND
Raising a baby squirrel takes a great commitment. Squirrels can live up to 20 years in captivity. It also is expensive to properly raise one. They must also have more than a tiny cage to live in,one at least 4 ft by 4 ft. They must have an adequate diet with lots of veggies and fruits and vitamins and minerals and liquid calcium  and plenty of exercise, they can not be left in the cage 24/7 and if they don't get these things they will die.Sounds harsh but it is true.Squirrels also have very sharp claws and powerful teeth and know how to use them. They are also very curious and will get into all kinds of trouble. They should never be allowed to run the house unattended or they surely will come to some harm. They are also very messy eaters and will drop food everywhere. They will bury everything all over your house or yourself. They cannot be housebroken. They will never take any abuse  as they will never forgive you and will be your enemy for life.Squirrels  have a very sweet and trusting nature and if raised with love and care will be your friend for life. Some of them do and not all squirrels make good pets.If you have the commitment and dedication it can be very rewarding for both of you. But if you don't, please leave it to people who do.
